Maxime defeated an over-ambitious Firouzja, while the leaders drew, to reach a 3-way playoff. Though Wesley started brilliantly against Aronian and was a move or two away from wrapping up victory in the 2nd game, MVL triumphed in a chaotic finale before going on to clinch the title against Aronian.
